UAE launches a national cryptography discovery platform
11 MAY 2026, ABU DHABI
The UAE launched a national cryptography discovery platform on 11 May 2026, through the Advanced Technology Research Council, the Technology Innovation Institute and QuantumGate. The platform brings together a Crypto Discovery Tool, entanglement-based quantum key distribution and national cryptographic libraries, and it feeds a national post-quantum readiness index.
The discovery tool is the practical core. It helps organizations find where they use cryptography across their systems, which is the first step of any migration. An organization cannot replace cryptography it has not located, so a national tool that lowers the barrier to discovery helps organizations begin the work they might otherwise defer.
The readiness index gives the effort a national dimension. By feeding organization-level discovery into a national index, the UAE gains a view of how prepared the country is as a whole. That national measure lets authorities track collective progress and direct support to where readiness lags, turning individual discovery exercises into a coordinated national picture.
Why it matters. The UAE has built national infrastructure for the hardest first step of migration, discovery, and tied it to a readiness index that measures progress across the country. Providing the tooling centrally lowers the barrier for organizations to start, and the index gives authorities visibility into where help is needed. Organizations in the UAE can use the platform to begin discovery now rather than building their own tooling from scratch.
